Public Allies Partner Organizations

Strengthen Your Nonprofit: Partner With Public Allies!

What could your nonprofit do if it had an Ally dedicating 32 hours a week to a specific project?  Recruit more volunteers? Engage more community members? Pilot new curriculum?

Tap into the skills and talent of diverse, homegrown community leaders through our acclaimed apprentice-partnership model. Public Allies is the premier pipeline for developing diverse and talented nonprofit and community leaders. Our AmeriCorps program is cost-effective, builds capacity, and connects your organization to a network of like-minded organizations.

Since Public Allies’ founding in 1992, thousands of community organizations large and small have hosted AmeriCorps Allies/apprentices.

  • 90% report their organizations are better positioned to carry out their missions as a result of Allies' capacity building
  • 92% of our nonprofit partners say Allies met or exceeded their objectives as an apprentice
  • 92% say their organization received a substantial return on investment from partnering with Public Allies

At Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, we have experienced firsthand the value of Public Allies. We hosted a Public Ally, Jamie Heitzenrater, who ended up working with us for several years planting trees and enriching our teen employees before she became a teacher. We recently hired a Public Allies graduate, Cheria Caldwell, who is putting the skills she learned as a Public Ally to great use as our Community Engagement Coordinator. Cheria says Public Allies did nothing short of changing her life. It affirmed her interest in urban planning, and introduced her to a career path she always desired: empowering residents to change their communities.
