Who We Are
Sustainable Community Development
At INRC, we believe that the best ideas and expertise come from within a community. We also know that sustainable, long-term change occurs when neighbors and communities identify and unleash their gifts, skills and talents. Advancing the leadership in neighborhoods and building the capacity of neighborhood-based organizations is crucial to successful neighborhood revitalization efforts.
Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) is a system of values that forms the central framework for INRC. The benefit of an asset-based, strengths-driven community response results in empowerment, transformation, and healthy community life. INRC seeks to highlight each community’s strengths, and most importantly, provide a structure for transformation based on those strengths. What makes INRC unique is our conviction that citizens are at the core of sustainable community development.
INRC provides training, support and a variety of programs to help grassroots neighborhood organizations and neighbors address issues that affect the quality of life in their neighborhoods. By building upon their talents, working with neighbors and partners, and assuming a leadership role in their own community, residents are transforming the city of Indianapolis, block by block.
