Rising Leaders

In 2022, Neighbor Power Indy began recognizing Rising Leaders. A Rising Leader is someone who is actively engaged in their community, communicating with and including other members. The individual could be someone whose reputation in the community has become so well-known that many neighbors know they can rely on them.

During Neighbor Power Indy 2025, we celebrated three Rising Leaders.

KT White

KT is a transformational leader whose profound impact on her community is driven by her dedication to action, collaboration, and compassion.

She played a key role in opening the Westside New Day Center, which provides unhoused neighbors with essential resources, including access to showers and laundry facilities. As the co-founder of the Indiana chapter of Nomad Alliance, she has brought together community organizers, agencies, and organizations to create sustainable solutions for those in need.

Additionally, KT co-founded Allies for Humanity, fostering partnerships that prioritize equity and inclusion while upholding the dignity and sovereignty of all individuals, with a special focus on unhoused neighbors. Her service on the Mapleton-Fall Creek Neighborhood Association board further demonstrates her commitment to addressing the housing crisis and driving meaningful change.

Charlotte Crabtree

Charlotte Crabtree has trained over 300 people in Indianapolis on how to administer naloxone (Narcan) and has worked to break the shame and stigma surrounding substance use disorder.

She has led a federally funded initiative in partnership with the IU Bloomington School of Public Health called MACRO-B, which focuses on reducing overdose deaths in Indianapolis’ Black communities. Since its implementation, overdose death rates in these communities have decreased by 26.9%.

Charlotte’s efforts are both inspiring and lifesaving, making a profound impact on public health and community well-being.

Matt Impink

Since becoming president of the Fletcher Place Neighborhood Association last year, Matt has brought tremendous momentum to both the organization and the neighborhood.

He has played a key role in launching a public community space, initiating tactical urbanism projects to create safer streets, and inspiring greater community engagement.

Beyond his leadership, Matt is known for his friendly and welcoming nature, making him an approachable and valued presence in the neighborhood. He and his family are true assets to the community.
