We asked a few neighborhoods and here’s what they had to say.
1000 Words Inc. project involved the creation of an Artsgarden for St. Clair Place neighbors to enjoy nature, utilize garden space, and participate in events focusing on the arts. The garden includes a little library, picnic tables, and reusable flower beds.
Arlington Woods Neighborhood Association project involved enhancing a neighborhood nature trail and park. The enhanced greenspace is available to community members of all ages to enjoy and connect.
BRDIGE Collective an artist collective local to Fountain Square project involved the expanding of First Friday events and workshops for emerging artists. Project goals included creating a safe and inviting space for artists and neighbors to appreciate art.
Fountain Fletcher District Association’s project involved the creation of a mural to highlight the rich and historic history of the Fountain Fletcher District. The mural also features a QR code that features additional information on their work to create an asynchronous history tour. They hope to increase resident engagement and interest in the community’s history.
Local Vocals Community Choir led by Frederic and Ronza involved the implementation of 3 concerts focusing on genres such as soul, blues, and rock n’ roll. Goals included creating a shared space for community members to feel joy and relieve stress and increasing community connectedness.
The La Sardina Gallery features art from local Latino artists as well as other diverse groups. Their project involved creating an installation of work from artists with a Luchadore theme with history on the sport and its culture. Goals included having a community event to celebrate the installation and sharing it via video and social media.
Sound Ecologies is a music artist collective in University Heights. Their project involved the creation of a live concert series supporting local composers and musicians. Through the concerts they strived to increase awareness of environmental and social issues.
